Q & A Time:

What are "Fair Share" fundraisers?

Fair share fundraisers fulfill part of our band fees for the year.  This offers your student the opportunity to help earn their way through the BHS Band program.

Are ALL fundraisers or events "Fair Share"?

No.  There are times we do events that are just for us to participate in or attend.  We always say up front if an event/fundraiser is "Fair Share".

How do they work?

The boosters and the fundraising committee decide on the fundraiser, taking into consideration what the Middle School program is currently doing.  We decide how many items each student needs to sell, usually a minimum of 10 items, and 15 items for families of 2 or more students.  We have also had profit based fundraisers when 10 or 15 items for a particular fundraiser don't net that level of profit.

Must my student sell door to door?

No.  Some parents take order forms to work to sell for their student, or you may decide to pay the "Fair Share" amount of $60 ($90 for families of 2 or more students).  We plan on doing 3 "Fair Share" fundraisers for the 2008/2009 school year, making the total "Fair Share" $180.

What if we sell a few items, but not 10?

Basically, if we set the "Fair-Share" item total at 10 items, then the money amount would be $6 per item.  So, if you sell 3 items, you would need to add "fair-share" money for 7 items, 7 x $6= $42.  If you sell 9 items, you would need to add $6 for the 1 item you were short  (4 items + $6 x 6= additional $36)  (5 items + $6 x 5= $30 additional), etc.

What if a fundraiser is profit based?

We will always tell you at the beginning of a fundraiser if it is a 10/15 item fundraiser or if it is profit based.  If a fundraiser is profit based, we will let you know our profit margin.  If we make 50%, you would need to sell $120 to make $60 profit, etc.  (If you calculate a $50 profit, you would send $60 to make the fair share amount for 1 student.)
